Description

UPDATE 5/16/14: Just a slight correction: The year is from 2005, not 2007. And also, this bus was originally owned by Gwinett County Transit and was also originally powered with the Detroit Diesel Series 50G before the engine caught fire. Instead of being scrapped, this bus was sent back to Orion Bus Industries to be rebuilt (includes using the NG rear-end body panels) and used as an engineering bus #1255A before being sold to Blue Water Area Transit in probably August of 2012.

Photo from 2/12/13.

This is BWAT's 2005 Orion VII 07.501 (suburban edition) #12900 boarding passengers for a long-ride (1:50 min.) route M-29 commuter back to Port Huron, Michigan. I had recently de-boarded this bus after arriving on Gratiot and 23 Mile rd. at Chesterfield Township. This bus was operating on the route I-94 commuter express from Port Huron. This bus was purchased around 2012 and delivered on the same year. This is the ONLY low floor bus not to be equipped with rear door. Plus, it moves a bit faster on the highway than the 2007 Orion V 05.501 CNG #29600.

For a Orion, and all the great comments from drivers and mechanics, I am surprise that BWAT Blue Water Area Transit did not buy newer Orions!
